Examination of the Socialization Level of Sports Education University Students According to Demographic Variables

Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine the socialization levels of sports education students in terms of basic demographic variables. Method: The sample of the research consisted of 184 female and 332 male students who were enrolled in the Faculty of Sport Sciences at universities in five different provinces (Amasya, Tokat, Samsun, Kastamonu, Zonguldak) during the 2021-2022 academic year. The researchers used a "Personal Information Form" to collect data and the "Socialization Dimension" of the "Sports and Socialization Scale" developed by Şahan (2007) to measure socialization levels. Parametric tests such as t-test and ANOVA were used to analyze the data. Non-parametric tests such as Mann Whitney U and Kruskal-Wallis tests were used as alternatives to parametric tests when appropriate. Results: The research found statistically significant differences in socialization levels of students based on gender, university, and department choice. Conclusion: The findings of this study can serve as a foundation for future research in the field of sports sciences.

Yöntem: Araştırmanın örneklemi 2021-2022 eğitim öğretim yılında 5 farklı ilde yer alan devlet üniversitelerinin (Amasya, Tokat, Samsun, Kastamonu, Zonguldak) Spor Bilimleri Fakültesinde öğrenim gören 184 kadın ve 332 erkek öğrenciden oluşmuştur. Verilerin toplanmasında araştırmacılar tarafından oluşturulan “Kişisel Bilgi Formu” ve sosyalleşme düzeylerinin belirlenmesinde, Şahan (2007) tarafından geliştirilen ‘’Spor ve Sosyalleşme Ölçeği” ’nin ‘‘Sosyalleşme Boyutundan’’ yararlanılmıştır. Verilerin analizinde parametrik testlerden t-testi ve ANOVA kullanılmıştır. Parametrik testlerin kullanımının uygun olmadığı durumlarda ise parametrik testlerin alternatifi olan Mann Whitney U ve Kruskal-Wallis testlerinden yararlanılmıştır. Bulgular: Araştırma sonucunda öğrencilerin cinsiyet, öğrenim gördükleri üniversite ve bölüm seçimi ile ilgili tercihleri bakımından sosyalleşme düzeylerinde istatistiksel açıdan anlamlı farklılıklar olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Sonuç: Çalışma, elde edilen bulgular neticesinde gelecekte spor bilimleri alanında yapılacak araştırmalara kaynak teşkil edecektir.
