A HOUSE WITH HAND-CRAFT AND WOODEN DECORATIONS FROM THE 19TH CENTURY: KOÇARLI HİDAYET İLHAN HOUSE

Abstract

One of the reasons of the disappearance of the traditional-style houses is the changing life circumstances as well as the weakness of the constructional materials. It is vital to protect and document these constructions that demonstrate Turkish home traditions. Hidayet Ilhan house is one of those houses with its architectural features and decorational aspects. It is possible to see this tradition as an architecture on its plan consisting of two storey and anteroom outside, yard with high walls, material, anteroom and room layout. Its hand-craft and wooden decorations integrated with the architecture, especially the double headed eagle motif on the door is remarkable. The this decorations, made in accordance with the financial status of its owner, are reflective of the features of local designing as well as the understanding of aesthetics and stylistic aspects during the century.

Evlerin yapı malzemesinin dayanıksızlığının yanında değişen yaşam koşullarının etkileri de, geleneksel tarzda yapılmış evlerin giderek yok olmasındaki etkenlerdendir. Geçmişten günümüze Türk ev geleneğinin göstergesi olan bu yapıların, tarihi mirasa sahip çıkmak açısından korunması ve belgelenmesi gerekmektedir. Gerek mimari düzeni gerekse süsleme özellikleri Türk Evi geleneğini yansıtan Hidayet İlhan Evi de bu evlerden biridir. Bu geleneği, mimari olarak iki katlı dış sofalı planı, yüksek duvarlı avlusu, malzemesi, hayat ve oda düzeninde görmek mümkündür. Mimari ile bütünleşen kalemişi ve ahşap süslemeleri, özellikle kapıdaki çift başlı kartal motifi dikkat çekicidir. Ev sahibinin ekonomik gücü doğrultusunda yapılan bu süslemeler, yerel süsleme özellikleri yanında çağın estetik anlayışı ve üslup özelliklerini de yansıtmaktadır.
