PRE-SCHOOL TEACHERS' APPROACHES TO PROBLEM STUDENT BEHAVIOR

Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the problem student behaviors that preschool teachers see in the classrooms and their possible causes, suggestions for the solution of these behaviors, the negative effects of natural disasters on students and their suggestions to eliminate these effects. A qualitative approach was adopted in the research and a phenomenological design was used. The study group was formed from 38 Preschool teachers with easily accessible sampling technique. Data analysis was done with descriptive and content analysis. Data analysis was done with descriptive and content analysis. The problem faced by the teachers in the research is the student behaviors; It has been found that tolerable minor problem behaviors are problem behaviors that are limited in impact and breadth, and problem behaviors that increase and spread. Teachers think that undesirable student behaviors are caused by possible child-based, family-based, and environmental factors. In the research, it was found that talking with the child and family, school-family cooperation, getting help from the counselor, adopting a common discipline understanding, emphasizing positive behaviors, and encouraging positive behaviors with drama can be effective in solving problem student behaviors. In the study, it was revealed that it would be appropriate for teachers to cooperate with the school administration, students, family, and guidance services in order to correct the problematic behaviors seen in students. In addition, it was concluded that the earthquake experienced in Türkiye on February 6, 2023 caused fear and anxiety in students. At the end of the study, various suggestions were made to the researchers who are interested in the subject.

Bu çalışmanın amacı Okul Öncesi öğretmenlerin sınıflarda gördükleri sorun öğrenci davranışları ile bunların muhtemel nedenleri, bu davranışların çözümüne yönelik önerileri, doğal afetlerin öğrenciler üzerinde oluşturduğu olumsuz etkileri ve bu etkileri gidermek için önerilerini tespit etmektir. Araştırmada nitel bir yaklaşım benimsenmiş ve olgu bilim deseni kullanılmıştır. Çalışma grubu kolay ulaşılabilir örneklem tekniği ile 38 Okul Öncesi öğretmeninden oluşturulmuştur. Verilerin analizi betimsel ve içerik analizi ile yapılmıştır. Araştırmada öğretmenlerin karşılaştıkları sorun öğrenci davranışlarının; tolere edilebilir küçük sorun davranışlar, etkisi ve genişliği sınırlı sorun davranışlar ile artan ve yayılan sorun davranışlar biçiminde olduğu bulunmuştur. Öğretmenler istenmeyen öğrenci davranışlarının muhtemel çocuk kaynaklı, aile kaynaklı ve çevresel faktörlerden kaynaklı nedenlerden oluştuğunu düşünmektedir. Araştırmada, sorun öğrenci davranışların çözümünde çocuk ve aileyle konuşmak, okul-aile iş birliği, rehber öğretmenden yardım almak, ortak disiplin anlayışı benimsemek, olumlu davranışları vurgulamak ve drama ile olumlu davranışlara özendirmenin etkili olabileceği bulunmuştur. Yapılan çalışmada öğrencilerde görülen sorun davranışları düzeltmek için öğretmenlerin okul yönetimi, öğrenci, aile ve rehberlik servisleriyle iş birliği yapmalarının uygun olacağı ortaya konulmuştur. Ayrıca, 6 Şubat 2023 tarihinde Türkiye’de yaşanan depremin öğrencilerde korku ve kaygı oluşturduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Çalışma sonunda konuya ilgisi olan araştırmacılara çeşitli önerilerde bulunulmuştur.
