EDUCATIONAL PROBLEMS OF REFUGEE CHILDREN IN TERMS OF THEIR FAMILIES’ PERSPECTIVE

Abstract

The aim of this qualitative research is to explore educational problems of refugee children, who have been stayed in Amasya, in terms of their families’ perspectives. In order to reach the aim of this study, the researchers have asked the following research question; “What are the educational problems of refugee children according to their families?” The study group of this research is consisted of 14 families who have been determined by easily accessible case sampling technique which is a kind of purposeful sampling methods. The participants have been coded by K1, K2, K3, K4, K5, K6 ….. and K14. The data has been collected by semistructured interview. All collected data has been analyzed using NVIVO 9 program with content analysis technique. After analyzing the collected data, the researchers have come to know that refugee children have some educational problems and they seriously affect their education process. For each theme, supportive statements are given as examples in the table. By the end of this research, the researchers have come to the conclusion that unless these determined educational problems have been solved, the questions on education will be continued and refugee children will not be able to get enough education

Nitel araştırma yaklaşımı ile gerçekleştirilen bu çalışmanın amacı, Amasya ilinde ikamet eden mülteci çocukların karşılaştıkları eğitim sorunlarını ailelerin algılarına göre ortaya koymaktır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda “mülteci çocukların eğitim sorunları aile algılarına göre nelerdir”? sorusuna yanıt aranmıştır. Çalışma grubu amaçlı örneklem yöntemlerinden kolay ulaşılabilir durum örneklemesi tekniği ile belirlenen 14 aileden oluşmaktadır. Katılımcılar K1, K2, K3, K4, K5,K6…. ve K14 şeklinde kodlanmıştır. Yarı yapılandırılmış mülakat yöntemi ile 14 aileden elde edilen veriler NVIVO 9 programı kullanılarak içerik analiz tekniği ile çözümlenmiştir. Anizler neticesinde, öğrencilerin birtakım eğitim sorunları ile karşılaştıkları görülmüştür. Bu sorunlar çocukların eğitim sürecini ciddi olarak olumsuz anlamada etkilemektedir. Her bir bulguya ilişkin destekleyici ifadeler örnek olarak tabloda belirtilmiştir. Elde edilen bulgular neticesinde araştırmacılar, mülteci çocukların ailelerinin ifade ettikleri eğitim ile ilgili sorunlarının tam olarak çözülmedikçe eğitimde nitelik sorununun devam edeceği ve yeteri kadar eğitim alamayacakları sonucuna ulaşmışlardır
