INVESTIGATION OF ATTITUDE OF EDUCATION FACULTY STUDENTS TOWARDS THE SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH METHODS COURSE

Abstract

In this research, it was aimed to determine the attitudes of the prospective teachers who are studying in different departments towards the scientific research course. The universe of the study consists of a sample of 150 senior teacher candidates determined on the basis of volunteering and pre-service teachers studying at the departments of Turkish, Mathematics, Preschool, Social Sciences and Science Teaching at the education faculty of a state university located in Amasya. In this study conducted within the scope of quantitative research, survey method was used. The data of the research were collected using the "Attitude Scale Towards the Scientific Research Methods Course". In the analysis of the data, comparisons were made using samples t-test and post hoc tests unrelated to the SPSS 20 program to examine different variables. As a result of the analysis, when the average scores regarding the attitude towards the scientific research course were evaluated, it was determined that the science teacher got the highest average score and the social studies teacher candidates got the lowest average score. When the significance level of the difference between the average scores for the scientific research methods course was evaluated, it was concluded that there was a significant difference in favor of science teaching. When the findings were examined according to the gender variable, it was concluded that gender was not effective in attitudes towards the course of scientific research methods. According to data, findings, first of all, the lecturers should like the Scientific Research Methods course. It is essential that they encourage and help trainees become willing to do research.

Bu araştırma, farklı programlarda okuyan ve bilimsel araştırma dersi alan öğretmen adaylarının bilimsel araştırma yöntemleri dersine yönelik tutumlarının belirlenmesi amacıyla yürütülmüştür. Araştırmanın evrenini, Amasya ilinde bulunan bir devlet üniversitesinin Eğitim Fakültesinde Türkçe, Okulöncesi, Sosyal Bilgiler, Matematik ve Fen Bilgisi Öğretmenliği programlarında okuyan öğretmen adayları oluştururken, gönüllülük esas alınarak belirlenen 150 son sınıf öğretmen adayı örneklemi oluşturmaktadır. Nicel araştırma kapsamında gerçekleştirilen bu çalışmada alan taraması yönteminden yararlanılmıştır. Araştırmanın verileri “Bilimsel Araştırma Yöntemleri Dersine Yönelik Tutum Ölçeği” kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Verilerin analizinde, farklı değişkenlerin incelenmesinde SPSS 20 istatistiki programıyla ilişkisiz örneklemler t-testi ve post hoc testleri kullanılarak karşılaştırmalar yapılmıştır. Analiz sonucunda, bilimsel araştırma dersine yönelik tutuma ilişkin ortalama puanlar değerlendirildiğinde en yüksek ortalama puanın fen bilgisi öğretmenliğinin aldığı, en düşük ortalama puanı ise sosyal bilgiler öğretmen adayları aldığı belirlenmiştir. Bilimsel araştırma yöntemleri dersine yönelik ortalama puanlar arasındaki farkın anlamlılık düzeyi değerlendirildiğinde fen bilgisi öğretmenliği lehine anlamlı fark olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır. Cinsiyet değişkenine göre bulgular incelendiğinde, bilimsel araştırma yöntemleri dersine yönelik tutumlarda cinsiyetin etkili olmadığı sonucuna varılmıştır. Bulgular doğrultusunda öncelikle öğretim elemanlarının Bilimsel Araştırma Yöntemleri dersini sevdirmeleri gerekir. Araştırma yapmaları için öğretmen adaylarını cesaretlendirmeleri ve istekli hale gelmelerine yardımcı olmaları çok önemlidir.
