Teachers' Views about Science Teaching with 'Force Capturing' Educational Game

Abstract

The aim of the study is to reveal the views of science teachers on teaching an educational game designed for the acquisitions of the "Resultant Force" subject in the "Force and Motion" unit in the science curriculum for the sixth-grade students. This research is a phenomenology study because the research aims to determine the views of experienced science teachers about an educational game developed in accordance with the teaching of a science subject. This study was carried out with 3 1 female, 2 male science teachers working in two different secondary schools. The data of the study were collected through semi-structured interviews after the teachers were informed about the game designed and were watched the video of the game. At the end of the study, it was concluded that the force capturing game developed for teaching resultant force topic was liked by the teachers participating in the research and it was an activity that could be used in teaching this topic

Çalışmanın amacı altıncı sınıf öğrencilerine fen bilimleri öğretim programında yer alan ''Kuvvet ve Hareket'' ünitesindeki ''Bileşke Kuvvet'' konusunun, kazanımlara yönelik tasarlanmış bir eğitsel oyun ile öğretimi üzerine fen bilimleri öğretmenlerinin görüşlerini ortaya koymaktır. Araştırma bir fen konusunun öğretimine uygun olarak geliştirilen eğitsel bir oyun hakkında deneyimli fen bilimleri öğretmenlerinin görüşlerini belirlemeyi amaçladığından dolayı bir olgu bilim çalışmasıdır. Bu çalışma iki farklı ortaokulda görev yapan 3 1 kadın, 2 erkek fen bilimleri öğretmeni ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Çalışmanın verileri, öğretmenlere tasarlanan oyun hakkında bilgi verilip oyunun videosu izlettirildikten sonra yarı yapılandırılmış görüşmeler ile toplanmıştır. Çalışmanın sonunda, bileşke kuvvet konusunun öğretimine yönelik geliştirilen kuvvet kapmaca oyununun araştırmaya katılan öğretmenler tarafından beğenildiği ve bu konunun öğretiminde faydalanılabilecek bir etkinlik olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır
