KÖY OKULLARINDA ÖĞRENİM GÖREN ÇOCUKLARIN GÖRSEL OKUMA BİÇİMLERİ

Abstract

Çalışma köy okulunda öğrenim gören 8. sınıf öğrencilerinin görsel okuma biçimlerini tespit etmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Bu çalışmanın yapılma sebebi, literatürde 8. sınıf köy okullarında öğrenim gören öğrencilere yönelik görsel okuma özelinde yapılmış bir çalışmaya rastlanılmaması ve merkezi yerleştirme sınavlarında görsel okumaya yönelik soruların artış göstermesidir. Çalışma durum çalışma modeli ile kurgulanmış, nitel bir araştırmadır. Çalışma grubunu kolay ulaşılabilirlik ve ölçüt örneklem yoluyla seçilen 8. sınıfta öğrenim gören 56 köy okulu öğrencisi oluşturmaktadır. Çalışmada veri toplama aracı olarak, görsellere ait yorumların istendiği açık uçlu çalışma kâğıtları kullanılmıştır. Cevaplar betimsel analize tabi tutularak Hasan Efe’nin “Karikatürü Düşündüren İnsan” kitabında belirttiği görsel metin olarak karikatürün anlam yapısı konusunda derin yapı ve yüzey yapı başlıklarına göre kategorize edilerek incelenmiştir. Cevaplarda öğrencilerin çoğunluğunun yüzeysel yapıyı tasvir ettiği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Bu kategorideki 12 öğrencinin cevabında düz okumada öne çıkan sembollerin yüzeysel yapıdan uzaklaşarak simgelere başka anlamlar yüklediği göze çarpmıştır. Sonuç olarak köy okullarında öğrenim gören çocukların çoğunun görsel okuma açısından yeterince gelişemediği görülmüştür. Öğretmen görüşlerine göre öğrenci velilerinin eğitime ilgisizliği, bu öğrencilerin öğrenim hayatları boyunca farklı uyarıcılarla karşılaşmaması ve teknolojik araçlara rahat erişimlerinin mümkün olmaması ile okuma alışkanlıklarının edinmiş olmamaları, bu duruma sebep teşkil eden durumlardır.

The study aims to determine the visual reading styles of 8th-grade students studying in rural schools. The reason for this study is that there is no study in the literature on visual reading for students studying in 8th-grade rural schools and the increase in questions about visual reading in central placement exams. The study is qualitative research designed with a case study model. The study group consists of 56 rural school students studying in the 8th grade, selected through easy accessibility and criterion sampling. As a data collection tool in the study, open-ended worksheets, in which comments on the images were requested, were used. The answers were subjected to descriptive analysis and reviewed by categorizing them according to the titles of deep structure and surface structure on the semantic structure of cartoon as a visual text in Hasan Efe's book "Karikatürü Düşündüren İnsan". In the answers, it was concluded that the majority of the students described the surface structure. In the answers of 12 students in this category, it was noticed that the symbols that stand out in plain reading wandered away from the surface structure and gave different meanings to the symbols. As a result, it was seen that most of the children studying in rural schools are in embryo in terms of visual reading. According to the teachers' opinions, the indifference of the students' parents to education, the fact that these students do not encounter different stimuli throughout their education life, they do not have easy access to technological tools, and they do not have reading habits are the reasons for this situation.
