THE DEBATES ON RELIGION AND SECULARISM DURING THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY BUDGET DISCUSSIONS

Abstract

In the history of the Turkish Republic, the Democratic Party period (1950-1960) became the center of many discussions on different subjects such as political issues, economic applications, social and daily life. After the Democratic Party period, these matters were hdiscussed by the politicians, politologs, journalists, sociologists, historians and other occupational groups and many academic studies were carried out. In those studies, religion and religious activities in the Democratic Party period were connected with education and culture policy. In addition, the activities of the Democratic Party on formal and informal education institutions, Faculty of Theology, imam schools, religious education in primary and secondary schools and the training of religious commissaries were investigated based on the archive documents and statistical data.In this manuscript, the knowledge related to those topics discussed in the Turkish Grand Assembly during the Budget discussions between the years 1950-1960 was scanned and with this paper we contributed to the literature.

Türkiye Cumhuriyeti tarihinde Demokrat Parti Dönemi (1950-1960), siyasî, ekonomik, sosyal, günlük hayat ve pek çok alanda tartışma konusu olmuştur. Demokrat Parti iktidarından sonra bu dönem, siyasîler, siyaset bilimciler, gazeteciler, sosyologlar, tarihçiler ve diğer meslek mensupları tarafından ele alınarak akademik çalışmalar yapılmıştır. Bu çalışmalarda Demokrat Parti dönemi eğitim ve kültür politikalarında din ve dinî faaliyetler, Demokrat Parti’nin örgün ve yaygın eğitim kurumları üzerindeki çalışmaları, İlâhiyat Fakültesi, İmam Hatip Okulları, ilk ve ortaöğretim kurumlarındaki din dersleri konuları ve din görevlilerinin yetiştirilmeleri hususları arşiv belgeleri ve istatistik veriler ile ortaya konulmuştur. Bu makalede de 1950-1960 yılları arasında Türkiye Büyük Millet Meclisi genel kurulunda yapılan bütçe görüşmelerinde konu ile ilgili bilgiler taranıp işlenerek, literatüre katkı sağlanmıştır.
