Yönetim Biliminin Erken Dönem Öncü İsimlerinden Olan Robert Owen Üzerine Bir İnceleme

Abstract

Yönetim olgusunun bilimsel açıdan ele alınışı çeşitli bilim adamlarının çalışmalarıyla başlatılmaktadır. Bu çalışmaların yoğun ve sistematik biçimde ortaya çıktığı döneme bakılırsa 19. yüzyılın sonlarına ve 20. yüzyılın başlarına denk gelmektedir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, Sanayi Devrimi ile hızlanan fabrikalaşma sürecinde ortaya çıkan yönetimsel sorunlar üzerine çalışma yapan önemli kişilerden birisi olan Robert Owen’ı yönetim bilimine katkıları açısından ele almaktır. Görüşleri ve çalışmaları incelendiğinde yönetim bilimi açısından önemli tespitler ve çözüm önerileri geliştiren Owen’ın, bu yönüyle akademik çalışmalara çok fazla konu edinmediği de anlaşılmıştır. Çalışmanın iddiası, Owen’ın yönetim biliminin erken dönem öncü isimlerinden birisi olduğu ve alana önemli katkılar sağladığıdır. Sonuç olarak, yönetim biliminin erken dönemlerinde yaşayan ve yaşadığı dönem içinde yönetimsel sorunlara çözümler üreten, bu konuda çeşitli akademik çalışmalar yapan ve görev aldığı organizasyonları daha verimli hale getirmeyi amaçlayan Owen’ın önemli bir akademik miras bıraktığı düşünülmektedir.

The scientific study of the administration phenomenon is initiated by the studies of various scientists. Considering the period in which these studies emerged intensively and systematically, it corresponds to the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. The aim of this study is to discuss Robert Owen, one of the important people who worked on the administrative problems that emerged during the factoryization process that accelerated with the Industrial Revolution, in terms of his contributions to administrative science. When his views and works are examined, it is understood that Owen, who developed important findings and solution suggestions in terms of administrative science, has not been subject to much academic studies in this regard. The claim of the study is that Owen was one of the early pioneers of administrative science and made significant contributions to the field. As a result, it is thought that Owen, who lived in the early periods of administrative science and produced solutions to managerial problems during his time, conducted various academic studies on this subject and aimed to make the organizations he worked for more efficient, left an important academic legacy.
