Yusuf Akçura's Views on Daily Life in the Speeches of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye

Abstract

Yusuf Akçura who was one of the political and intellectual personalities of Turkish Republic contributed to the development of history as a profession. He became member of Parliament in the second,third and forth terms from İstanbul and in the fifth term from Kars. He also became the member of the committee to establish Turkish Historical Society and became the President of this society between the dates 8th April, 1932 and 11th March, 1935. He became a professor on political history in University of Istanbul in 1933. Yusuf Akçura published lots of articles on history and politics and a number of articles have been published about him by the other researchers. In these articles, the researchers provided information about his political and intellectual activities and the details of his family life as well. The aim of this article is to contribute to the studies about Yusuf Akçura by gathering his speeches he gave in the sessions of Turkish Grand Assembly on daily life.

Türkiye Cumhuriyeti siyasî ve fikrî tarihinin önemli şahsiyetlerinden biri olan Yusuf Akçura, aynı zamanda tarihçilik mesleğinin gelişmesine de önemli katkılarda bulunmuştur. İkinci, Üçüncü, Dördüncü Dönem İstanbul; Beşinci Dönem Kars milletvekili olarak Türkiye Büyük Millet Meclisi’nde bulunmuştur. Türk Tarih Kurumu’nun kuruluşunda yer almış; 8 Nisan 1932-11 Mart 1935 tarihleri arasında bu kurumun başkanlığını yapmıştır. 1933 yılında İstanbul Üniversitesi Siyasî Tarih Profesörü olmuştur. Yusuf Akçura, tarih ve siyaset alanında çok sayıda eser vermiş olmakla birlikte, diğer araştırmacılar tarafından kendisi hakkında da pek çok eser yazılmıştır. Bu eserlerde Yusuf Akçura’nın siyasî, fikrî faaliyetleri ve aile hayatının ayrıntıları ortaya konulmuştur. Bu makalemizde Türkiye Büyük Millet Meclisi genel kurulunda yaptığı konuşmalardan günlük hayata dair olan bilgileri bir araya getirerek, Yusuf Akçura hakkında yapılan çalışmalara katkıda bulunulmuştur.
