USÛLÎ’S GHAZEL WITH THE “SEPARATION” REDİF

Abstract

The theme of separation has been extensively explored in our literature. Whether it is the divine or human beloved, the idea of being separated from the beloved, or being deprived of their presence, has been portrayed by both classical and Sufi poets as well as folk poets in compelling narratives. In one of the most illustrious periods of our literature, the 16th century, our classical poet Usûlî, who was also a Sufi, has lyrical and powerful couplets, even standalone poems, on the subject of separation. Indeed, in our article titled “Usuli’s Approach to Separation in the Context of His Divan” we examined the poet’s verses on separation. In this work, which serves as a continuation of that study, we have evaluated the ghazal in the 63rd sequence of Divan. It becomes evident how profoundly separation affects Usuli, tearing apart his inner world, turning the world into a prison, and becoming a burning fire like hell, which separates the pearl from its shell and Joseph from his brothers. Moreover, this ghazal, which the poet himself has chosen as the redif and deals with the theme of separation from various angles, is quite remarkable in terms of the words used, their placement, and literary arts employed. Therefore, in this study, we have delved into this ghazal by utilizing the data of rhetoric science (meani, beyan, and bedi), analysis, and explanation methods. Thus, the aim is to provide a detailed introduction to this ghazal, which is of great importance in terms of its redif. Based on the selection of the redif, as well as the words used in the ghazal, and the poet’s approach to separation from various perspectives in each couplet, it can be concluded that this poem possesses superior literary qualities.

Ayrılık konusu edebiyatımızda çokça ele alınıp işlenmiştir. Aşkın da etkisiyle ilâhî veya beşerî sevgiliden ayrı düşme yahut mahrum kalma meselesi gerek klasik ve/veya mutasavvıf şairler gerekse halk şairleri tarafından etkileyici anlatımlarla ortaya konulmuştur. Edebiyatımızın en parlak çağlarından birinde, yani XVI. yüzyılda yaşamış ve aynı zamanda bir mutasavvıf olan klasik şairlerimizden Usûlî’nin de ayrılık konusunda söylediği lirizm yönü güçlü beyitleri/bendleri, hatta müstakil şiirleri bulunmaktadır. Nitekim başka bir çalışmada şairin ayrılıkla ilgili beyitleri incelenmiştir. Onun devamı niteliğindeki bu çalışmada ise Dîvân’ın 63. gazeli değerlendirilmiştir. İnciyi sedefinden, Yusuf’u kardeşlerinden ayıran, âşığın gönlünü viran, dünyasını zindan, bütün işlerini perişan eden ayrılık, Usûlî’yi de çok derinden etkilemiştir. Üstelik şairin bizzat redif olarak seçtiği ve çeşitli yönleriyle ayrılık konusunu işlediği bu gazeli, kullanılan kelimeler, kelimelerin yerleri ve edebî sanatlar bakımından da oldukça dikkat çekicidir. Dolayısıyla bu çalışmada belâgat ilminin (meânî, beyân ve bedî‘) verilerinden, tahlil ve şerh yönteminden yararlanılarak söz konusu gazel üzerinde durulmuştur. Böylece redifi itibarıyla son derece dikkat çeken gazelin ayrıntılı olarak tanıtılması amaçlanmıştır. Redif seçimi kadar gazelde geçen kelimeler, her beyitte şairin ayrılığa türlü yönlerden yaklaşımı gibi hususlardan ötürü bu şiirin edebî açıdan üstün özelliklere sahip olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.
