dc.description.abstractCancer is the second most common cause of death in ourcountry and also worldwide. In the cancer treatment are usedmany methods such as surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapyand hormone therapy. Despite these methods, a decrease is notobserved in cancer cases and in the mortality. In addition,cancer drugs cause serious side effects. Therefore, there is aneed for new anticancer drugs. Chalcones have broadanticancer activity against various cancer cells. In this study,the anticancer activities of the chalcone compounds wereinvestigated against PC3 (Human Prostate Carcinoma Cell) andHT29 (Human colon colorectal adenocarcinoma) cell lines. Theanticancer activity tests were performed using the BrdU ELISAmethod. 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) was used as the positive control.Compound 1-7 (except Compound 3) were determined havinghigher anticancer activity than 5-FU against PC3 cancer cells.IC50 values of the compounds 1-7 against PC3 cancer cells were2.53±0.02 µM; 4.40±0.03 µM; 5.86±0.02 µM; 4.36±0.03 µM;1.76±0.02 µM; 1.78±0.03 µM; 2.31±0.03 µM, respectively.en_US
