Orta çağ İslam dünyasında koku: Misk amber kâfur

Abstract

Kokular, çevreye güzel bir intiba bırakmak ve insanları etkilemek amacıyla tercih edilmişlerdir. Orta Çağ İslâm dünyasında koku kullanımı oldukça yaygın olmakla beraber, konumuz özelinde misk, amber ve kâfur yalnızca soylu kimselerin elde edebildiği çok değerli ürünlerdendi. Bunun nedeni bu ürünlerin deniz aşırı ve zorlu coğrafyalardan İslâm ülkelerine taşınmış olmasındandı. Misk ve kâfur Kûr'ân'da adı geçen kokulardan olup, insanlar bunlarla müjdelenmişlerdir. Misk, bizzat Hz. Peygamber'in sünneti olup onun tarafından kullanılması teşvik edilmiştir. Kadınlar ise misk ve amberi laden zamkıyla birlikte karıştırıp siyah renk elde etmiş ve bu maddeyi sahte ben, sahte kaş yapımında kullanmışlardır. Öte yandan bu kokuların tedavi edici özelliklerinden faydalanılarak Orta Çağ'da kullanılan reçetelerde sıklıkla yer almışlardır. Misk, amber ve kâfur zor bulundukları için sahteleri yapılmıştır. Bunların sahte olup olmadıklarını tespiti amacıyla da çeşitli yöntemler geliştirilmiştir. Böylesine değerli olan misk, amber ve kâfur devletlerarası hediyeleşmelerde, bir saçı malzemesi olarak, kutsal emânetlerin parfümlenmesinde, düğünlerde ve cenazelerin bu kokularla beraber yıkanarak defnedilmesinde kullanıldılar.

Although the use of fragrances was quite common in the Middle Ages Islamic world, in particular, musk, amber and camphor were among the very valuable products that only noble people could obtain. This is because these products were transported from overseas and difficult geographies to Islamic countries. Musk and camphor are among the fragrance products mentioned in the Quran, and believers were given good news of it. Musk, on the other hand, is the Sunnah of the Prophet and its use is encouraged. Fragrances have been preferred by people to impress people and leave a good impression on the environment. Women, on the other hand, have used musk and amber to make fake mole and fake eyebrows by taking advantage of their coloring feature. On the other hand, taking advantage of the therapeutic properties of these fragrances, they were frequently used in recipes used in this period. Due to their difficulty, these odors have been counterfeited and various methods have been developed to detect them. There is information about such valuable products, musk, amber and camphor as gifts in inter-state as shed in weddings, perfuming of holy relics, and burial of burials with these scents.
