The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of rosehip extracts on serum thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) and thyroid gland activity [free and total triiodothyronine (FT3 and TT3) and free and total thyroxine (FT4 and TT4)] of common carp which were acutely and sub chronically exposed (4 and 30 days) to 5, 10 and 20 ppm of dosage. According to the experimental results, the decrease of serum TSH levels in 5 ppm group and the increase of serum TSH levels in 10 and 20 ppm groups were significant (p<0.05) in acute phase when compared to control group. In sub-chronic phase, serum TSH levels were significantly decreased in 5, 10 and 20 ppm groups when compared to control group. In acute phase, FT3 and TT3 levels were significantly (p<0.05) decreased in 10 and 20 ppm groups and FT4 and TT4 levels were significantly (p<0.05) increased when compared with the control group. It can be concluded that rosehip extracts may have increased the metabolic activity in acute phase but decreased in sub-chronic phase.en_US
