Recently, power system stability issue has gained popularity with wind and solar energy systems beginning to effective on power systems. Faults occurring at the grid cause effective voltage drops at the output of the hybrid system consist of a photovoltaic (PV) plant and a wind farm. If the voltage decrease remains under a specific value for a long time, this may cause a large-scale voltage collapse at main grid. This paper proposes a novel method to prevent this problem by using a series dynamic braking resistor (SDBR), which is serial connected between the grid and the hybrid system, and a static var compensator (SVC) which is shunt connected at the point of common coupling (PCC). The power system with SDBR and SVC devices were modeled in MATLAB/Simulink. Also, analyses were performed in this software. Results of the analyses demonstrate the effectualness of the suggested method.
