Morphometry of the Corpus Callosum

Abstract

The corpus callosum (CC) is the major pathway connecting the two cerebral hemispheres of the brain. It consists of four parts, the rostrum, genu, body, and splenium. The CC plays a central role in sensory, motor, and cognitive information in cerebral information transferring and integration between the two cerebral hemispheres. The CC has been studied in regard to morphological features with dimensions, age, and sex differences both in health and neuropsychiatric disorders. Quantitative analysis of the CC morphometry is best studied with T1 sequence on midsagittal MRI.
