The purpose of this study is to evaluate novice physics teachers' teaching skills they developed through teaching programs. This work has been carried out by employing case study approach. The findings were collected from the semi-structured observations and interviews made by three novice physics teachers whose teaching experiences are 2 or 3 years. Initially, the professional activities of these physics teachers working at different types of secondary schools in Amasya, are observed using an observation chart. Afterwards, interviews are carried out to obtain ideas, expectations and comments of these novice physics teachers. The obtained data indicated that the novice teachers are not offered ample opportunity in schools to demonstrate their skills, to utilize laboratory and education technology and to create simple tool-equipments for the sake of reaching the objectives of the curriculum.

The objective of this paper is to provide an efficient and reliable analytical procedure for the evaluation of rectangular plane-extended sources and their associated radiation fields. Integrals with integer and non-integer values appear in the evaluation of the radiation field distribution. The latter results from a homogeneous rectangular plane target bombarded by hollow-cylindrical ion beams, the elementary areas anisotropically emitting in non-dispersive media, and fast neutrons produced in non-dispersive media by sealed-off neutron generating tubes (NGT) in an axi-symmetric situation [Hubbell, J.H., Bach, R.L., Lamkin, J.C., 1960. Radiation from a rectangular source. J. Res. NBS 64C (2), 121-137; Hubbell, J.H., 1963a. A power series buildup factor formulation. Application to rectangular and offaxis disk source problems. J. Res. NBS 67C, 291-306, Hubbell, J.H., 1963b. Dose fields from plane sources using point-source data. Nucleonics 21 (8), 144-148; Timus et al., 2005a. Plane rectengular tritium target response to excitation by uniform distributed normal accelerated deuteron beam. Appl. Radiat. Isot. 63, 823-839; Timus et al., 2005b. Analytical characterization of radiation fields generated by certain witch-type distributed axi-symmetrical ion beams. Arab J. Nucl. Sci. Appl. 38(I) 253-264]. In'these references, the resulting expressions are represented as infinite linear combinations of basic J(q)(a, b, z) integrals. With the help of relation for J(q)(a, b, z), we can evaluate the high terms of energy expressions, which have been proposed in the above-mentioned references. A series formulation involving complete elliptic integrals of the first and second kinds for the solid angle subtended at a point by a circular disk is presented. Results from the present model were tested against data sets obtained with previous treatments for the solid angle in order to determine the degree of simplicity and speed of our calculations. 3-D graphs are presented. The effect of metal ions on TiO2 mediated photocatalytic oxidation for the determination of dissolved organic nitrogen compounds is investigated. Ethylenediaminetetraaceticacid was chosen as a model molecule for DON compounds. At pH 2, 5, 7, and 10 aqueous EDTA solutions were irradiated at 254 nm in the presence of Fe2+, Cu2+, Zn2+, Ni2+ or Co2+ ions. The sum of produced nitrate, nitrite, and ammonium ion concentrations gave the total oxidation recovery. At low pH, the photocatalytic oxidation recoveries of Fe-EDTA, Ni-EDTA, and Co-EDTA were significantly lower than the photocatalytic degradation of EDTA. The presence of free Fe2+, Ni2+, and Co2+ ions decreased the photocatalytic oxidation recovery. The [NH4+]/[NO3-] ratio was higher for Cu-EDTA.
